European standard for sports area lighting EN
12193
Since July 23rd 1999 the new European
Standard EN 12193 is active. This standard replaces the national standards
at the latest by February 2000.
For all sports the minimum horizontal
lighting levels, measured at 0 m height, are given. This is the so called
maintained level, i.e. 0.8 x new value. Also for all sports the
minimum uniformity is given, represented by EH,min:EH,ave.
Additionally specific requirements are given per sport and for example for
TV-recordings.
The lighting levels for each sport are
grouped into 3 classes according to the level of competition:
